Week 37

Faith in Action

~2 min read · VI. Agency

Promise

Turn every ounce of your faith into irreversible, public, terrifying action—no more waiting for certainty.

Reset

Inhale for 6 seconds, pulling the future straight into your bloodstream.
Hold for 6, feeling the weight of what you’re about to do.
Exhale for 12, slow, like you’re exhaling every last excuse.
Do it five times.
On the last exhale, slam your fist into your palm and say:
“Done waiting.”

Reflection

Faith has never come easily to me.
Not belief in religion.
Not belief in people.
Sometimes not even belief in myself.

But rebuilding trust with my daughters—that required a kind of faith I had never practiced before.
Not the kind you talk about.
The kind you prove.

There was a short stretch when I wasn’t the father they needed.
Too much chaos in my life.
Too much pain I hadn’t metabolized.
Too many seasons where survival took everything I had, leaving nothing for consistency.
When they grew older, I knew any apology I could offer would be small compared to what they lived through.
Words were never going to bridge that distance.
Only actions—repeated, reliable, unglamorous—could do that.

So I kept showing up.
Not grand gestures.
Not emotional speeches.
Just presence.
Calls returned.
Moving trucks loaded and unloaded.
Decks built.
Boundaries honored.
Visits made.
Support offered without expectation.
Honesty, even when it cost me.

And slowly—so slowly—it started to matter.
The temperature shifted.
Walls softened.
Relationships rekindled.

That is faith in action:
Choosing to believe reconciliation is possible even when you have no evidence yet.

Choosing to act like a father before you feel like you deserve the title.

Choosing consistency over guilt, patience over panic, repairs over ruin.

My daughters didn’t need me to be perfect.
They needed me to be present. Reliable. Trustworthy.
And learning how to become that man was one of the most sacred
transformations of my life.

Faith isn’t belief. Faith is what you do when belief isn’t enough.

Where in your life must you act your way into faith, rather than wait to feel it?

Challenges

Start

Today, when fear whispers “wait,” say aloud: “Faith moves now.” Then take the next step immediately.

Stretch

Every day this week, make one decision that requires faith: spend the money, send the message, book the ticket, quit the job, say the words. No safety net. No rehearsal. Just action.

Deep-dive

This week, take the single biggest leap your faith has been demanding:

Launch the thing. End the lie. Begin the life. Make it public, irreversible, and expensive. Do it before doubt can talk you out of it. Then send proof (screenshot, photo, resignation email) to the one person who always told you to “be reasonable.” Caption it: “This is what faith looks like when it stops asking permission.”
